Azul overview

Azul was founded on January 3, 2008, by entrepreneur David Neeleman and began operations on December 15, 2008. We benefit from our partnerships and invest in a robust and scalable operational platform, complemented by a management team that combines local market experience with diverse international expertise and knowledge of best practices from the United States, the largest aviation market in the world.

We have established ourselves as one of the leaders in aviation in Brazil, achieving a strong market share in less than 7 years, and in 2017, we conducted our initial public offering (IPO), starting the trading of our shares on B3’s Level 2 Corporate Governance.

We are the airline in Brazil with the highest number of flights and cities served, and we have the most extensive network in Brazil, serving more than 150 destinations, representing almost double that of our main competitors and we are the only airline on approximately 81% of our routes, leaders in more than 130 Brazilian cities in terms of take-offs and carrying more than 31 million passengers by 2024.

Through our extensive network, we connect travelers to exclusive destinations from three hubs serving the markets of São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Recife, three of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. In Viracopos, one of the main airports in the São Paulo area and the largest hub in South America in terms of non-stop domestic destinations, we are leaders in daily domestic flights.

We believe we have built a strong brand by offering a superior travel experience based on a customer service culture provided by our well-trained and highly motivated CrewMembers (defined as our employees, staff, and/or administrators). We are passionate about serving, caring for our customers, and connecting people, providing unique experiences.

The video below showcases our campaign called “O Céu do Brasil é Azul” which translates everything that drives us: the pride of being the airline that most connects people, stories, and destinations in the country.
