Azul was founded on January 3, 2008, by entrepreneur David Neeleman and began operations on December 15, 2008. We benefit from our partnerships and invest in a robust and scalable operational platform, complemented by a management team that combines local market experience with diverse international expertise and knowledge of best practices from the United States, the largest aviation market in the world.
We have established ourselves as one of the leaders in aviation in Brazil, achieving a strong market share in less than 7 years, and in 2017, we conducted our initial public offering (IPO), starting the trading of our shares on B3’s Level 2 Corporate Governance.
We are the airline in Brazil that serves the largest number of cities, operating approximately 800 daily flights to more than 130 destinations. On 80% of our routes, we are the only airline present. With an operating fleet of around 170 aircraft and more than 15,000 CrewMembers, we operate a network of 250 nonstop routes and transported 32 million passengers in 2025, the highest number in Azul’s history.
Through our extensive network, we connect travelers to exclusive destinations from three hubs serving the markets of São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Recife, three of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. Our main hub is in Campinas at Viracopos airport, approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the city of São Paulo.
We believe we have built a strong brand by offering a superior travel experience based on a customer service culture provided by our well-trained and highly motivated CrewMembers (defined as our employees, staff, and/or administrators).
We are passionate about serving, caring for our customers, and connecting people, providing unique experiences.
The video below showcases our campaign called “O Céu do Brasil é Azul” which translates everything that drives us: the pride of being the airline that most connects people, stories, and destinations in the country.
